I’ve discovered some important things through traveling! I thought today I would share some tips with you. Some I have learned the hard way, some I have learned from other travellers!<\/p>\n

Tips For Before You Go:<\/h2>\n

  1. Always buy travel insurance, you never know what might happen.<\/li>\n
  2. Check your passport before you go. Some countries require your passport to be valid for up to 6 months after leaving. Some countries also require proof of return ticket. Check here<\/a> if you are Canadian.<\/li>\n
  3. Keep a photo copy of your passport and license just incase it gets lost. Also keep a photo on your phone.<\/li>\n
  4. Send your itinerary to a friend of family member before you go.<\/li>\n
  5. Check to see if you need any vaccines before you travel.<\/li>\n
  6. Purchase a travel plug adapter if needed.<\/li>\n
  7. Check visa requirements with the country you are traveling to.<\/li>\n
  8. Set up a travel alert with your bank.<\/li>\n
  9. Download apps for the public transit of the city you will be visiting.<\/li>\n
  10. Check in for your flight online.<\/li>\n
  11. Make sure everything in your carry on complies with the airport security guidelines.<\/li>\n
  12. Check the weather to make sure you pack the right clothes.<\/li>\n
  13. Learn \u201chello\u201d \u201cplease\u201d and \u201cthank you\u201d in the native language of the country you will be visiting.<\/li>\n
  14. If you\u2019re having a hard time deciding what to do, check out bus tours website for ideas. Even if you are going to drive yourself you can copy their itinerary.<\/li>\n
  15. Pack a mini first aid kit with bandages, medications like ibuprofen, anti-diarrhea, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Tips For While You Are Gone:<\/h2>\n

    1. Don\u2019t carry too much cash with you.<\/li>\n
    2. If you are visiting a super popular attraction like the Louvre, or the Empire State Building, buy your tickets online in advance to save time.<\/li>\n
    3. City passes are not always worth it so make sure to do the math!<\/li>\n
    4. Most cities will have free walking tours if you look for them.<\/li>\n
    5. Public transportation is usually safe and much cheaper than taxi.<\/li>\n
    6. Eating near tourist sights will always be more expensive.<\/li>\n
    7. Bring a portable phone charger in your day bag, just in case!<\/li>\n
    8. When you arrive, walk around your neighborhood get your bearings and to scope out restaurants, cafes, etc.<\/li>\n
    9. Choose family run hotels and restaurants, you\u2019ll likely have a better experience.<\/li>\n
    10. Talk to locals about things to do and where to eat.<\/li>\n
    11. Wear comfortable shoes.<\/li>\n
    12. Bring a water bottle and a snack with you wherever you go.<\/li>\n
    13. Keep a travel journal. You\u2019ll forget things quicker than you think!<\/li>\n
    14. Charge your camera and phone every night, or bring extra batteries.<\/li>\n
    15. Don\u2019t sweat the small stuff! It\u2019s an adventure after all!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
